At 8:24 a.m. officers responded to the school for a fight involving 4 to 5 students, Gloucester Township police said.

The school was placed in a “Shelter in Place” security protocol as additional officers arrived and separated all parties, police said. An investigation into the incident is continuing and there are no ongoing threats to students or staff, police said.

But the fight was no isolated incident, Black Horse Pike Regional School District Superintendent Dr. Brian Repici said in a letter to caregivers and students.

"Over the past 10 school days, there have been too many students engaged in physical altercations, threatening one another, or bringing harm or threatening staff members," As the Superintendent, I am hearing of too many instances where students are not meeting simple behavioral expectations. If you cannot follow these simple expectations, there will be consequences."

Repici noted 99.9% students are doing their best work "and it is a joy to talk with our students and learn from them."

"All of our staff members appreciate the opportunities to influence, coach, and teach all students, but we grow disappointed by students who are NOT doing the right thing or who are NOT focused on their future," Repici said. "All of you should be encouraging peers to make good choices and to think through behaviors BEFORE they result in consequences. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation."
